Velvet Doorstops

I was looking to buy a green velvet cushion but couldn't find what I was looking for.   Luck was on my side when I found some lovely velvet colours at my local fabric store and I decided would have a go at making my own.

Looking at the fabric when I got home,  I thought "mmm...these fabrics would look great made into doorstops" and couldn't wait to get some samples made up.

I think they look fantastic, love the texture of them and so bright and colourful.

Lots of gorgeous colours to choose from....Emerald Green, Hot Pink, Tangerine Orange, Aquamarine, Teal, Navy and Eggplant.  Navy and gold go so well together, so adding a coloured ribbon top adds a nice touch.  I chose navy ribbon for the aquamarine, pink ribbon with the tangarine and gunmetal silver with teal.

With Christmas not far away,  they would make a wonderful and practical gift idea!  Heading out to stockists early this month and also available online from my MadeIt store.

I'm loving all the velvet homewares available right now and can't wait to make some velvet cushions very soon.

Some fun gift ideas I've made are these travel tissue covers.  They are available from my stockist Davies & Son at 401 Hampton Street, Hampton, Victoria or you can find the online here: www.madeit.com.au/goziandpop  With Christmas coming up soon they are a great stocking filler or cute gift for teacher, friend, coach...

Laura Blythman fabrics

Designer, illustrator and creative director Laura Blythman is renowned for her vibrant use of colour and paper collage.  Imagine our excitement when her gorgeous and colourful textile prints became available at Spotlight recently.

There are endless options when it comes to creating something from a piece of fabric.

I chose to make some travel tissue covers, cushions and doorstops.
