I've started a quilt!  Using the EPP - English Paper Piecing method, it's a fun way to use small pieces of fabric.  It's quite addictive and doesn't take long to grow.  I really enjoy the process of hand-sewing.  A chance to slow down, and lightly concentrate on the task, I find it relaxing and theraputic. I would encourage anyone who hasn't tried it, to give it a go.  It's pretty easy, it's portable and you don't need heaps of room.  A handy project if you want to take a little project on your travels, while you're watching kids at sport, or watching TV in the evening.

Check out My Poppet blogs here for Cintia's tutorial and hexie template if you'd like to give it a go.

Velvet Doorstops

I was looking to buy a green velvet cushion but couldn't find what I was looking for.   Luck was on my side when I found some lovely velvet colours at my local fabric store and I decided would have a go at making my own.

Looking at the fabric when I got home,  I thought "mmm...these fabrics would look great made into doorstops" and couldn't wait to get some samples made up.

I think they look fantastic, love the texture of them and so bright and colourful.

Lots of gorgeous colours to choose from....Emerald Green, Hot Pink, Tangerine Orange, Aquamarine, Teal, Navy and Eggplant.  Navy and gold go so well together, so adding a coloured ribbon top adds a nice touch.  I chose navy ribbon for the aquamarine, pink ribbon with the tangarine and gunmetal silver with teal.

With Christmas not far away,  they would make a wonderful and practical gift idea!  Heading out to stockists early this month and also available online from my MadeIt store.

I'm loving all the velvet homewares available right now and can't wait to make some velvet cushions very soon.

Some fun gift ideas I've made are these travel tissue covers.  They are available from my stockist Davies & Son at 401 Hampton Street, Hampton, Victoria or you can find the online here: www.madeit.com.au/goziandpop  With Christmas coming up soon they are a great stocking filler or cute gift for teacher, friend, coach...

Laura Blythman fabrics

Designer, illustrator and creative director Laura Blythman is renowned for her vibrant use of colour and paper collage.  Imagine our excitement when her gorgeous and colourful textile prints became available at Spotlight recently.

There are endless options when it comes to creating something from a piece of fabric.

I chose to make some travel tissue covers, cushions and doorstops.
